The PALPA lINES.

Tour description:

Our staff will pick you up from your hotel in Nazca and then you will be transferred to the airport. Once we get there, a video film about these mysterious drawings will be shown, so that our customers can get a better idea about the archaeological zone they will see from the air. We have small Cessna planes, which got room for three and five passengers, everyone with a window seat, so that visitors may observe the drawings properly. Unlike the Nazca drawings, the Palpa Lines zone shows more human figures and geometric designs. According to the archaeologist the Palpa Lines belong to a period much older than the Nazca Lines. We will start this wonderful aerial tour over the Nazca Valley in which you will see a great landscape, passing a mysterious desert till we reach the zone of Ingenio from where it will be possible to make up some lines and geometric forms. The first figure you will see is a representation of a pelican, which was drawn in a stylized form on the slope of a small hill. Later on we will continue and will reach a zone known as Llipata where various human beings can be seen on the slopes of the mountains. On this area stands out a group of human images known as The Family. It is a group of 3 individuals, which represent clearly a woman, a man and a boy. At the foot hill, near these strange beings there is a huge trapezoid that resembles an air strip. Later on we will pass over the mountains and will see on their flat summits various rectangular figures. On this area will see a representation of a humming bird, an old version of one we can see on the Nazca desert. Afterwards we will find a creature that resembles a dog near to a big square. Nearby we will also see a big representation of a marine bird. Finally we will fly over the Palpa city and then we will see the popular geoglyph known as the solar clock and the ceremonial knife known as El tumi. Finally you will return to Nazca where our representative will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel. End of the flight.

Recommendations:

• On this tour you must bring light clothing, as the weather in Nazca used to be very hot, especially in summer time (from December to March) when temperatures can reach 40º C / 104 ºF sometimes.
