HOMESTAY ON THE UROS FLOATING ISLANDS 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT PROGRAM.

Program: 2 days / 1 night - Private Tour.

Day 1º: Visit to the Uros Floating Islands & homestay.

09:00 hrs. Our clients are collected from their hotels and then transferred down to the harbor. At the harbor we will embark on a motorized boat that will take us to the tribes of the Uros people. The boat ride last roughly 30 minutes and offers fine views of the Lake Titicaca, as well as from the surrounding mountains. Upon our arrival our group we will be welcomed by a group of islanders, who afterwards will show us around. Our guide will explain important aspects of the live of these people and afterwards you will go for a ride in a small reed boat made by the Uros people. The reed boat will take you from one island to another, so that you may meet other locals from another island. The distance from one island to another is not long. At lunch time we will be taken to a nice local house-restaurant where you will enjoy a good Andean lunch. Later on we will visit the zone of Chullini, a nice community inhabited mainly by fishermen where you will be able learn about the techniques of fishing in the Lake. On this zone you can also visit colorful souvenirs shops located outdoor where local women sell various products made of Alpaca wool and other handicrafts. Later on we will return to the Uros community where you can rest or simply wait for the sunset while drinking a hot coca tea. Dinner will be provided by your local family. Overnight at a local floating house on the Uros community.

What is included on this day?

• 09:00 hrs. Pick up from your hotel in Puno and transfer to the Lake Titicaca harbor.
• Entrance fee to the National Park of the Lake Titicaca.
• Private Boat transportation with toilet facitlities.
• A short tour on the little original Totora reed boat.
• English speaking guide.
• Lunch & dinner at a local family house on the Uros community (very basic food)
• Overnight on an Uros floating family house.

Day 2º: Return to Puno.

08:00 hrs. After breakfast, we will have to say goodbye to our local Uros family. Later on we will take you to a zone where you can observe some residents birds of the Lake Titicaca. Here we will learn a bit more of the flora and fauna that exist on the Lake Titicaca. Finally we return to the main land. Upon your arrival at the harbor of Puno you will be picked up by our representative and then will be driven by car to your hotel. End of the tour.

• Private boat transportation back to Puno.
• Pick up from the dock in Puno and transfer to your hotel.

You need to bring:

• Bear in mind that meals offered on this homestay program is very basic, so we suggest to bring some fruits and snacks extra just in case.
• On this tour you must bring warm clothing, as temperarures at night are very cold sometimes. We strongly suggest to bring along, gloves, wooly hats, chocolates, and a botle of water.
• Local families will provide every customer a bed and blankets. Accommodation provided on the Uros Islands is very simple. If you need more blankets just request them to your local family.
• Bathrooms are located outside the rooms, so bring a flashlight along, as there is no electricity on Uros island. Headlights are very useful.
• We suggest to bring also some toys for the little kids on the islands or notebooks, pencils, pens, books, which can be easily purchased at the harbor market before departing. They would really appreciate that nice gesture from you. Don't give chocolates to the kids, no dentist on the islands.
